BJP's 5th Lok Sabha Polls List Reveals New Faces and Key Changes; Kangana Ranaut will embark on her electoral journey from this constituency



Lok Sabha Elections-2024: The BJP has unveiled its fifth election list, introducing fresh names like industrialist Naveen Jindal, Ranjit Chautala, former Calcutta High Court Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay, and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut. This latest announcement, covering 111 candidates across 17 states, signifies notable changes in the party's strategy.


Among the highlights, all six slots from Andhra Pradesh, 17 from Bihar, 21 from Odisha, and 19 from Bengal have been filled. Notably, Varun Gandhi has been omitted, while his mother Maneka Gandhi is nominated from Sultanpur. Jitin Prasada, who recently switched allegiance from Congress, will contest from Pilibhit.


K Surendran will challenge Rahul from Wayanad


The BJP has bid farewell to prominent figures such as Union Ministers Ashwini Kumar Choubey and General VK Singh, along with former Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde. In a significant move, senior leader K Surendran will challenge Congress's Rahul Gandhi from Kerala's Wayanad.


Kangana Ranaut will embark on her electoral journey from Mandi, HP


Ranjit Chautala, son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, will vie for the Hisar seat, whereas Kangana Ranaut will embark on her electoral journey from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Actor Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal of Ram in the TV series Ramayan, has been nominated for the Meerut Lok Sabha constituency.


Shift from the judiciary to politics


Former Calcutta High Court Judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who recently joined BJP after retirement, will contest from Bengal's Tamluk, marking a unique shift from the judiciary to politics. In Odisha, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Sambit Patra will represent Sambhalpur and Puri respectively.


Additionally, Sita Soren, a new entrant, will contest from Jharkhand's Dumka. Union Minister Giriraj Singh will seek re-election from Begusarai, while former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will contest from Patna Sahib.
