Chitrakoot, Amarkantak, Pitambara Peeth Datia and Gwalior to be developed as tourist spots in MP


Chitrakoot: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated 9 projects under the Swadesh Darshan and Prasad Yojana of the Ministry of Tourism from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. These projects include development initiatives in Gwalior and Chitrakoot as part of Swadesh Darshan 2.0, and Amarkantak and Pitambara Peeth Temple Datia under the Prasad Yojana, with a total cost of Rs 118 crore 72 lakh in Madhya Pradesh. 


Development Authority to be formed


CM Dr. Mohan Yadav participated in the programme from Chitrakoot, where he announced the establishment of the Chitrakoot Development Authority. This authority aims to facilitate coordinated development and overall progress in Chitrakoot by fostering collaboration between urban bodies and gram panchayats across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.


Dekho Apna Desh-People's Choice Campaign 


PM Modi announced the launch of the 'Dekho Apna Desh-People's Choice Campaign,' emphasizing the selection and development of tourist destinations with public involvement. Locations receiving the highest votes in the People's Choice campaign will be prioritized for development as tourist destinations.


Chalo India Campaign


Prime Minister Modi emphasizing the responsibility of Indian Diaspora to encourage at least five families residing abroad to visit India. To facilitate this initiative, the 'Chalo India Campaign' is being initiated. This campaign will utilize a website to inspire NRIs and other citizens to plan visits


Dr. Yadav emphasized the significance of places linked with Lord Ram and Krishna in Madhya Pradesh, asserting their development into premier pilgrimage destinations. 


Dr. Yadav said that Lord Ram came to Chitrakoot, hence Chitrakoot is as important to us as Srinagar. 


Banks of Chitrakoot will be developed


Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the banks of Chitrakoot will be developed at a cost of Rs 27 crore. Families of boatmen will also benefit from the development of banks in Chitrakoot. Along with Chitrakoot, the state government is also bestowing gifts worth Rs 25 crore for the temple of Pitambara Mai in Datia.


Dr. Yadav emphasized the aspiration to develop Chitrakoot into an ideal destination, where every individual feels compelled to visit at least once in their lifetime. He underscored the commitment to develop "Devsthans" in line with the visionary Nanaji Deshmukh's exemplary life and ideas.


Phoolbagh, located between the Gwalior Fort and Palace in Gwalior, is a 38-hectare historical precinct which was developed by Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia I. This historical area includes Moti Mahal, Italian Garden, Regional Art Centre, Gwalior Zoo, Aquarium, Music Museum, Municipal Corporation Museum, Baija Tal, Gopal Mandir and Swarnarekha River etc.


Development of Amarkantak


Under the scheme in Amarkantak, works worth Rs 49.98 crore were approved by the Ministry of Tourism for the development of Amarkantak, the origin place of the life-giving mother Narmada. Beautification of the temple complex, development of the fair ground, expansion of the ghats and various works for the convenience of the devotees are included.


A plan has been made to make all necessary arrangements for the pilgrims at the bathing ponds in Chitrakoot. The Aarti Platform with attractive lighting on the Ghats, featuring live Aarti Darshan on LED display, will immerse the tourists in the spiritual mystery of Mandakini Aarti.


Theme park and a grand entrance proposed in Datia


In this scheme, a theme park and a grand entrance are proposed to give information about 52 Shaktipeeths at Peetambara Peeth in Datia. Development and beautification of footpath, waiting room and public facilities is proposed in the 2 km approach road.
