Arvinder Singh Lovely Gave These Reasons for Resigning from Delhi Congress President Post

Arvinder Singh Lovely has resigned from the post of Delhi Congress President.

Arvinder Singh Lovely has resigned in protest against the decision of alliance with Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi. He has given many other reasons for resigning.

Arvinder Singh Lovely wrote in his resignation letter, "The Delhi unit of Congress was against the alliance with the party which was formed by falsely accusing Congress of corruption. Despite this, Congress in Delhi decided to form an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party."

Aam Aadmi Party is part of the Congress-led India alliance. In Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party is contesting on 4 seats, while Congress has got three seats.

After the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Arvinder Singh Lovely left Congress and joined BJP. However, Arvinder Singh Lovely returned to Congress after some time.

I feel helpless due to several reasons: Lovely

Arvind Lovely has written in his resignation letter that he feels helpless due to several reasons and considers himself incapable of continuing as the president of the Delhi unit of the party. In the letter, he wrote, 'On August 31, 2023, I was appointed as the president of the Delhi Congress, for which I express my gratitude to the party. I have made sincere efforts in the last 7-8 months to re-establish the party in Delhi, so that it can be ensured that the party returns to the same state it once was.'

All 7 parliamentary seats were covered through rallies and programs

Lovely wrote further, "Everyone knows in what condition the party unit was in August 2023 when I was entrusted with the responsibility. Since then, I have worked hard to revive the party and re-engage local activists. I have re-involved hundreds of local party workers and local leaders in the party who had either left the party or become inactive, while the party had not held any major events/rallies in the city for many years. I also ensured that all 7 parliamentary seats of the city are covered through rallies and programs because there was very little time left for the general elections."

Decisions taken by senior leaders of Delhi Congress were vetoed

Explaining the reason for resigning from the position of Pradesh President, Arvindar Singh Lovely wrote, "The AICC General Secretary (Delhi in-charge) unilaterally vetoed all unanimous decisions taken by senior leaders of the Delhi Congress. The AICC General Secretary did not permit me to make any senior appointments in the DPCC. My request for the appointment of an experienced leader in the media was outright rejected."

Lovely also expressed dissatisfaction with Kanhaiya Kumar

In addition, referring to Kanhaiya Kumar, Arvindar Singh Lovely wrote, "Candidate from Northeast Delhi (Kanhaiya Kumar) is praising Delhi's CM against party lines and principles, and giving statements in the media. They have supported your false propaganda regarding the alleged work done in the education, health, road, and electricity sectors without seeing the suffering of Delhi's citizens."
