Haryana School Bus Accident: School principal, secretary among 3 held


Police have arrested three people in the school bus accident in Kanina, Haryana.


These include school principal Deepti, bus driver Dharmendra and school secretary Hoshiar Singh.


Police have registered a case against all of them under sections 304 and 120.


According to the police, the driver of the school bus was drunk and was driving the bus under the influence of alcohol.


Earlier, the Haryana state education minister Seema Trikha had said that action will be taken against the bus driver, principal and school owner in connection with the bus accident that took place in the Kanina area in Mahendragarh district of Haryana in which 8 children have died. 


She visited the hospital where 12 children are admitted. She said that she has talked to the doctors, the condition of all the children is out of danger. Only one girl is in ICU due to severe head injury.


Senior police officer Arsh Verma said, "The bus's fitness certificate was not renewed." Official documents show that the bus's fitness certificate had expired six years ago in 2018.


The parents of one of the students were also injured after their bike crashed while they were on the way to the accident site. While the student's mother suffered a fracture in her leg, her younger sister died in the crash.

Expressing grief over the incident, PM Modi also wrote on his social media handle X, "The bus accident in Mahendragarh, Haryana is extremely painful. My condolences are with all the families who have lost their children in this accident. Along with this, I wish speedy recovery of all the injured children. Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is engaged in providing all possible assistance to the victims and their families.


Eight children died when a school bus overturned near the women's college located in village Unhani in Haryana's Kanina area in Mahendragarh on Thursday morning. More than 35 children are injured in the accident.
