Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, will now enter electoral politics. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has made him a candidate in the by-election for Gandey assembly seat.
This seat had become vacant due to the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed. Voting will take place here on May 20. Along with this, the party has also declared Sameer Mohanty as its candidate from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat.
Gandey assembly seat falls in Giridih district. Recently, Kalpana Soren had addressed a conference of party workers here. After this, speculations started being made that he might get a party ticket from here.
Even before the arrest of Hemant Soren in money laundering related to an alleged land scam, it was being said that Kalpana Soren could be made the Chief Minister.
But at the last moment, senior party leader Champai Soren was made the Chief Minister.
After the arrest of Hemant Soren, Kalpana Soren also participated in the rallies of INDIA Alliance.
Kalpana has alleged that her husband has been arrested as part of a conspiracy.
