UP: Case registered against 200 people for offering Eid Namaz on road in Meerut

Police have registered an FIR against 200 people for offering namaz on the road on Eid outside Shahi Idgah in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

Inspector in-charge Railway Road Anand Gautam told media, "On the day of Eid, many people had offered Namaz on the road outside the Eidgah. This report has been filed in this connection. Based on the video footage and all the photographs, people offering Namaz on the road have been identified."

Actually, on the day of Eid on April 11, a crowd of people had gathered at Shahi Eidgah for Eid prayers, but due to lack of space in the mosque, many people sat outside the mosque to offer prayers on the road.

When the police stopped people from offering namaz there, an altercation took place between the worshipers and the police. Its video also went viral on social media. In this, a Hindu organization leader Sachin Sirohi had also complained to the top officials.

This  case has been registered at Railway Road police station on the complaint of Railway Road police station area outpost in-charge Ram Avtar. He told in the complaint that although the police stopped them, unknown worshipers offered namaz on the road, due to which the traffic on the road was disrupted.
