UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Among Uttar Pradesh's 80 Lok Sabha seats, the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency is currently attracting the most attention.
Different claims are being made as to why the BJP high command is delaying in announcing the candidate from Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat.
In fact, former Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment of women wrestlers in the court, is the BJP MP from this seat.
BJP is contesting elections on the 75 seats in Uttar Pradesh, leaving five seats for its allies. BJP has announced candidates on 73 seats but candidates for Rae Bareli and Kaiserganj seats have not been announced yet.
Most of the analysts keeping an eye on the state politics say that the party has not been able to take any decision on Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh yet.
Was BJP waiting for two phases of polling to end?
Not only has the image of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh been tarnished, but the BJP also had to remain on the backfoot due to sexual harassment allegations against Brij Bhushan. Some analysts say that since BJP's strategy is to win on every seat, hence BJP was waiting for the first and second phase of elections to be over. This is because in these two phases, elections were held in Jat dominated areas where there was a risk of loss for the party.
Now that two phases of voting have been completed and the process of filing nominations in Kaiserganj has also started from April 26, the voters of the area are waiting for the name of the candidate.
The nomination process for this seat will continue till May 3. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on May 4 and those candidates who wish to withdraw their names can do so till May 6.
In such a situation, one thing is clear that the party wants to wait till the last moment regarding Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, because it is believed that he has influence not only on Kaiserganj but on some nearby seats.
It will be as God will wish: Brij Bhushan
However, amidst all this, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is continuing his election campaign among the people in the area.
He is also aware of the current state of indecision. He told party workers recently, "It is not that the Bharatiya Janata Party will give a walkover. There will be some candidate or the other, we think that the candidate will be declared before May 3. I will definitely say that when you people will hear the name of the candidate, you will be happy and as far as I am concerned it will be as God will wish."
