24 Die in Major Fire at Gaming Zone in Rajkot, Gujarat; Rescue Operations Underway; PM Modi, President Murmu express grief


A horrific fire accident took the lives of 24 people in Rajkot, Gujarat. There was a fire in a TRP game zone here on Saturday. So far 24 people have died due to the fire in this incident. Many fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and started rescue. There has been an atmosphere of chaos due to arson in the game zone. There are a large number of children among the deceased.


CM gave instructions for rescue and relief work


As soon as Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel received information about the Rajkot incident, he shared a post on social media platform and wrote instructions to the local municipal corporation and district administration to immediately start rescue and relief work in the fire incident in Rajkot game zone.  Instructions have also been given to give priority to arrangements for proper and immediate treatment of those injured in the accident.


Viral footage shows game zone engulfed in flames


The severity of the accident is evident from the plume of smoke that rose up to one kilometer into the sky. Numerous videos of the fire in Rajkot are circulating on social media, vividly depicting the terrifying blaze. The viral footage clearly shows the game zone engulfed in flames. Local residents fear that the death toll from the fire could increase.


Large number of children visit the game zone 


According to the local people, summer holidays are going on. A large number of school children visit the game zone during this season. At the time when this accident happened, there was a large crowd of children in the game zone.


Rescue efforts continue: Police Commissioner


"The rescue operations are ongoing, and the fire is now under control. We are working to recover as many bodies as possible. So far, around 20 bodies have been retrieved and sent to the hospital for further examination. An investigation is underway," stated Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava. "The gaming zone is owned by Yuvraj Singh Solanki. We will be registering an offence for negligence and the resulting deaths."


Commissioner Bhargava added, "I cannot confirm the cause of the fire at this time; it is still under investigation. Rescue efforts continue with several fire engines deployed. We will consult with fire brigade officials to determine the appropriate actions moving forward."


PM, President express grief


PM Modi and President Murmu have expressed grief at the incident.


"Extremely distressed by the fire mishap in Rajkot. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. Prayers for the injured. The local administration is working to provide all possible assistance to those affected," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said.


"I am deeply anguished to learn of the loss of lives in a fire accident at a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat. My heart goes out to the families who have lost their near and dear ones including young children. I pray to the Almighty for the speedy recovery of those being rescued," President Droupadi Murmu said.
