Arvind Kejriwal's PA Misbehaved With Swati Maliwal, Says Sanjay Singh, What More He Said?

AAP leader Sanjay Singh has revealed that Swati Maliwal, a member of the Rajya Sabha representing AAP, was subjected to harassment by a personal assistant of party chief Arvind Kejriwal. The incident allegedly occurred at the official residence of the Delhi Chief Minister. This disclosure followed unverified reports suggesting that Maliwal had been assaulted by the same staffer.

Singh condemned the incident, labeling it as "highly condemnable," and assured that Chief Minister Kejriwal would take stringent action in response.

He stated, "On Monday morning, a very distressing incident took place. Arvind Kejriwal had summoned Swati Maliwal for a meeting. While she was waiting in the drawing room, Bibhav Kumar entered and misbehaved with her. Subsequently, Ms. Maliwal contacted the police and reported the incident."

Singh emphasized the seriousness of the matter, highlighting Maliwal's significant contributions to both the party and the nation. He affirmed the party's support for Maliwal and reiterated their commitment to addressing the issue per Kejriwal's directives.

'This incident is indeed shameful'

Regarding the BJP's swift criticism of his statement, Singh responded, "The delay in our response is regrettable. However, we are now actively addressing the situation. This incident is indeed shameful, and appropriate action must be taken."

The AAP found itself under intense scrutiny following the reports of Maliwal's ordeal, with criticisms pouring in from various quarters. The BJP and Congress, in particular, seized the opportunity to lambast the AAP, with the former demanding Kejriwal's resignation over the incident.

NCW to probe the matter

The situation escalated further as the National Commission for Women (NCW) announced its intention to investigate the matter, demanding a report from the Delhi Police within 72 hours.

Delhi Police confirmed receiving calls from Maliwal's registered number reporting the harassment. However, Maliwal left the police station without filing a formal complaint.

The incident has sparked a political firestorm, with BJP and Congress councillors staging protests and demanding action, even calling for Kejriwal's resignation.

Intensity of Cong's reaction raised eyebrows

The intensity of the Congress's reaction raised eyebrows, given their alliance with the AAP in the INDIA bloc. This incident exacerbates the already strained relationship between the AAP and the BJP amid ongoing controversies, including the alleged Delhi liquor policy case involving Kejriwal.
