Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister die in helicopter crash

 


Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi has died in a helicopter crash, according to Iran's State TV.


President Raisi's helicopter crashed on Sunday but his death was confirmed after the debris was found on Monday.


In this accident, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian and other people aboard the helicopter also died.


According to news agency AP, officers like bodyguard, pilot, co-pilot, security chief were also aboard the helicopter.


This information has come to light after rescue workers reached the helicopter crash site on Monday morning.


Earlier, Iran's state media had said that there were no signs of survival from the helicopter that crashed.


An Iranian official said that the helicopter was completely burnt in the crash.


The weather was very bad at the place where the helicopter crash took place. Because of this, rescue workers had to struggle a lot to reach the spot.


President Raisi went to Azerbaijan on Sunday to inaugurate the Qiz Kalasi and Khodafarin dams.


After this inauguration, Raisi was going towards Tabrez city. Tabriz is the capital of East Azerbaijan province of Iran. During this time, the helicopter met with an accident on the way.


The area where the helicopter crashed is near Varzeqan city, 50 kilometers from Tabriz city.
