Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar, has been arrested by the Delhi Police following allegations of assault against Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. The incident reportedly occurred during Maliwal's visit to the Delhi Chief Minister's residence.
According to the FIR filed by Swati Maliwal, Kumar assaulted her by hitting and kicking her in various parts of her body. A video of the incident, which shows an altercation between the staff at the CM's residence and the AAP MP, is circulating on social media.
Kumar was detained from the CM's residence around noon and is currently being interrogated by the police. His lawyer, Karan Sharma, stated that they had not received any communication from the police despite offering full cooperation via email.
The BJP has criticized Kejriwal for his silence on the matter, with spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accusing him of being complicit by not taking action. The incident has sparked a political controversy, with calls for accountability and justice for the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal.
Meanwhile, Swati Maliwal's medical report states that she sustained injuries to her left leg and right cheek in the alleged attack by Bibhav Kumar.
The AAP Rajya Sabha member's medical examination was conducted at AIIMS on Thursday night.
In her FIR, the former DCW chief has accused Bibhav Kumar of slapping her “at least seven to eight times,” in addition to kicking on her chest, stomach, and pelvis. The FIR also states that Bibhav pounced on her, dragged her, and in the process, her shirt was pulled up and its buttons got opened.
