What did AAP say on arrest of Kejriwal aide Bibhav Kumar?

Aam Aadmi Party's legal cell chief Sanjeev Nasiar has reacted to the detention of Arvind Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar by the police.

Sanjeev Nasiar has said that he has not yet received the copy of the FIR.

On the complaint of Swati Maliwal, Delhi Police registered an FIR against Bibhav Kumar in the alleged assault case and detained him.

Sanjeev Nasiar told media, "Bibhav Kumar has been taken away by the police. Before that we have given an application in the court. The FIR which is circulating across the country has not yet been received by Bibhav Kumar and his lawyer.

“That order is reserved at four o'clock. But without any notice the police brought Bibhav Kumar. Notice under Section 41A is necessary. We want to go inside and know whether the police has brought Bibhav Kumar for questioning or whether he has been arrested.

Sanjeev Nasiar said, “We are not being allowed to meet Bibhav Kumar. Which is legally wrong.

Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has alleged that Bibhav Kumar assaulted her at the CM residence on May 13.

Aam Aadmi Party has rejected the allegations against Bibhav Kumar.

Attempt to avoid arrest

Bibhav Kumar is to be produced before Delhi's Tis Hazari Court after his arrest in alleged assault on Swati Maliwal.

Before his arrest, Kumar sent an email to the Delhi Police stating that he was ready to cooperate in the ongoing probe into Maliwal's assault claim while adding that they should also take cognizance of his complaint.

Bibhav, on Friday, lodged a counter-complaint with the police accusing Maliwal of gaining 'unauthorized entry' into the CM's Civil Lines residence and 'verbally abusing' him.

Significantly, the Vigilance Department had last month terminated Bibhav's service as Kejriwal's top aide over a pending criminal case.
