Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra 2024: 10 die while waiting in queues; offline registrations stopped

Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra 2024: Due to the huge crowd of pilgrims in the ongoing Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand, offline registration will remain closed today and tomorrow i.e. on 15th and 16th May (Offline Registration Stopped). In the last four days, 10 people going to Yamunotri-Gangotri have died on the way while waiting in queues for registration for the Yatra.

Thousands of pilgrims are stranded

These registrations were taking place in Haridwar and Rishikesh. At present thousands of pilgrims are already stranded in Haridwar and Rishikesh. The system has completely come to a standstill. Government arrangements have collapsed due to record breaking crowd at Gangotri-Yamunotri Dhams.

There is a 45 km long traffic jam for both the Dhams as one can see while proceeding from Haridwar till Barkot, 170 km away. Beyond Barkot there are routes to Yamunotri and Gangotri. Everyone is caught in jam here. The 30 km route from here to Uttarkashi is one-way, so vehicles returning from the temple are being taken out first.
