Madhavi Raje Scindia, mother of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, has passed away. Madhavi Raje Scindia was ill for a long time. She was admitted in a hospital in Delhi for more than a month. She was admitted to Delhi AIIMS for the last few days. She was suffering from pneumonia as well as sepsis. She was on ventilator for the last few days where she passed away at 9.28 am on Wednesday, May 15 in AIIMS. Madhavi Raje was the Rajmata of the Scindia family, after her death, now Priyadarshini Raje Scindia, wife of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, will be the Rajmata of the Gwalior royal family.
Madhavi Raje Scindia was the princess of Nepal
Madhavi Raje Scindia was not an Indian but from the Nepali royal family. Madhavi Raje Scindia was married to Madhav Rao Scindia on 8 May 1966. Madhavi Raje Scindia, the Rajmata of the Gwalior royal family, was once a princess of Nepal. Madhavi Raje Scindia used to be called as Princess Kiran Rajya Lakshmi Devi in her maternal home in Nepal before marriage.
After the demise of Madhav Rao Scindia's mother Rajmata Scindia, people in Gwalior used to call Madhavi Raje Scindia by the name of Rajmata. Now after her demise, Priyadarshini Raje, wife of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, will be called the Rajmata of the Scindia royal family.
Was active in social service
Madhavi Raje was very active in social service and charity work. Madhavi Raje was made the chairperson of 24 charitable trusts. These trusts provide assistance in areas like education and medicine. Along with this, she was also the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of Scindia Girls School. Madhavi Raje had also created a gallery in the palace museum in Gwalior in the memory of her late husband Madhavrao Scindia.
