On Friday, May 10th, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from jail. Kejriwal is expected to remain out of jail until the final phase of voting in the Lok Sabha elections.
The opposition characterized Kejriwal's arrest as a challenge to fair competition during the elections. Nevertheless, several political analysts suggest that this arrest has garnered public sympathy towards the opposition.
Now many political experts believe that the opposition will benefit from Kejriwal's release.
Especially, in states like Delhi and Punjab where Aam Aadmi Party has a strong base. This will also strengthen the India alliance.
Will AAP's morale get a boost in Delhi-Punjab?
Currently, Lok Sabha elections are going on. Voting has been completed for three phases, four phases are still left.
Voting is yet to be held in Delhi and Punjab, two states considered important for the Aam Aadmi Party.
Elections on 7 seats of Delhi are on 25th May. From here, Aam Aadmi Party is contesting on 4 seats and Congress on 3 seats. Both the parties are contesting the elections together under the India Alliance.
Aam Aadmi Party is contesting elections on all 13 seats of Punjab. Voting is here on June 1. Apart from these two states, Aam Aadmi Party is also contesting one seat in Haryana. In Haryana voting will be held along with Delhi on 25th May.
Kejriwal's release may benefit entire India alliance
Experts believe that Kejriwal's release will benefit not only his party but the entire India alliance.
Earlier, when Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh was granted bail with certain conditions, many experts said that there was a new enthusiasm among the party workers.
Ashutosh, a political analyst and former member of the Aam Aadmi Party, says, "Arvind Kejriwal's presence will have a big impact in Delhi and Punjab. Kejriwal's communication skills are excellent and he has a connect with the public."
Ashutosh says, "He is known all over India, this will also change things. This is a big blow to the Modi government. He will not only campaign in some states but will also be sent to other states on behalf of the India Alliance. At present, he is considered one of the big leaders after Modi and Rahul Gandhi."
Kejriwal can now convince people
Political analysts believe that this is a big blow for BJP and it will also boost the morale of Aam Aadmi Party to a great extent. They say now he can come out and convince people.
Kejriwal's release will strengthen the India alliance, even if it is only for a short period of time.
After the last phase of elections, it seems that the opposition is not performing as badly as was feared.
The arrest of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and then Arvind Kejriwal was strongly condemned by the opposition leaders. Now after the release of Kejriwal, some opposition leaders said that this will strengthen the India alliance.
