LK Advani Admitted to AIIMS Delhi


Former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, aged 96, was admitted to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi late Wednesday night due to age-related health issues. He is currently under the care and supervision of the Urology Department at AIIMS. This precautionary admission aims to ensure close monitoring of his health. 


"He is stable and under observation," a source said. Further updates on his condition are anticipated as medical experts continue their assessments.


Advani received Bharat Ratna in March


On March 31, LK Advani received India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna. President Draupadi Murmu visited his residence to confer the award, with notable figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Home Minister Amit Shah, and former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu in attendance. The decision to honor Advani with the Bharat Ratna was announced by PM Modi on February 3. Previously, in 2015, Advani had been awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian award.


PM Modi visited Advani to seek his blessings


Following the NDA's victory in the Lok Sabha elections on June 7, Prime Minister Modi visited Advani to seek his blessings, presenting him with a bouquet. This visit underscored Advani's continued influence and respect within the political community.


Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, Advani has had a distinguished political career. He served as the 7th Deputy Prime Minister of India in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government from 2002 to 2004. Prior to this role, he was the Home Minister in the NDA government from 1998 to 2002. As a founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Advani has been a central figure in shaping the party's direction and policies over the years.
