Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called on Union Minister Amit Shah at Parliament in New Delhi on Tuesday and invited him to launch the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign in the state.

"Today I have met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and I am happy that he continuously supports the development of Madhya Pradesh. I have invited him to launch the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign and he agreed to come," CM Yadav told reporters after the meeting.

51 lakh trees to be planted in Indore

He further said, "We will try that when he (Amit Shah) comes to Madhya Pradesh, we will make the Prime Minister's dream come true by planting 5.5 crore trees. Initially, we will be painting 51 lakh trees in Indore district and will try to move ahead with such a positive approach."

Earlier, state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that 51 lakh trees would be planted in Indore district under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign between July 7 and July 14.

"The preparations for the campaign are being done on a large scale and the work for digging the pits has started in the state. Saplings have also been ordered from various states across the country. Several social organisations, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation and Indore Development Authority, will plant trees in various areas of the district," he said.

IMC will provide saplings

Indore Municipal Corporation will provide the saplings. Along with this, the Municipal Corporation, Indore Development Authority and Forest Department will also plant trees at their own level in various areas of the city, village and BSF, he added.

A world record will be set

The campaign will start on July 7 and conclude on July 14. On the last day of the campaign, 11 lakh trees will be planted at the BSF shooting range and Revati Range. It will be a world record for which a team of Guinness Book of World Records also arrived in Indore, the minister further said.
