MP Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result: Is Kamal Nath Anxious Ahead of Poll Results? Makes This Demand to EC Regarding Chhindwara Counting

MP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Chhindwara Lok Sabha Seat: Only three days remain until the Lok Sabha election results are announced on June 4th. All eyes are on the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, with Chhindwara being the most talked-about among them.

Known as Kamal Nath's stronghold, Chhindwara is anticipated to witness a close contest between the BJP and Congress this election. This could be why Kamal Nath appears concerned about the stability of his bastion even before the vote counting begins.

The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has asked the Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh to ensure that the vote counting on June 4 is conducted in the presence of a Central Observer rather than the District Election Officer (DEO) of Chhindwara, Sheelendra Singh. Additionally, Nakul Nath has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner regarding this matter.

State Cong fears biased conduct by DEO during vote counting

In a letter to the Chief Election Officer of Madhya Pradesh, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee expressed concerns regarding the District Election Officer of the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. The letter states that Congress workers from the Chhindwara region have reported discriminatory behavior by the officer, allegedly favoring the BJP during the election campaign. The complaints include various acts of harassment against Congress workers and inappropriate police action at the residence of the Congress candidate just before the election.

The MPCC said these incidents have caused significant dissatisfaction among Congress workers. Consequently, the State Congress fears the possibility of biased conduct during vote counting under the leadership of District Election Officer (DEO) Sheelendra Singh.

It is further written in the letter that many complaints have been made to the Election Commission by the Congress candidate and the MP State Congress Committee regarding the working of the District Election Officer of Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. Therefore, a central observer should be appointed in Chhindwara on the day of counting on June 4.
