Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari on Monday criticised the exit poll predictions, saying that it said the same thing as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
He further said that many discrepancies were seen in the exit polls and the truth of the exit polls would be revealed tomorrow.
Jitu said, "The exit polls said the same thing as the BJP leaders. There were many discrepancies seen in the exit polls. When we talked in the context of Madhya Pradesh, we contested a good election on 12-13 seats. We have maximum chances to win them but exit polls are opposite to our expectation. The truth of these exit polls will be revealed on Tuesday."
The Congress party is not demoralised with the exit polls at all. Congress workers are neither disappointed nor disheartened about these exit polls, the Congress leader added.
Patwari also said that the Congress party would win more than 295 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
According to the exit polls prediction released on Saturday, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is poised to retain power at the Centre with a thumping majority and register its third straight win in the Lok Sabha polls.
Patwari slams govt over hike in toll plaza
Jitu Patwari also cornered the Central and State Governments over the issue of increase in toll plazas on national highways and asked till how long will this 'double engine' of loot continue to rob the people.
Patwari posted on X that after the state highways in Madhya Pradesh, now the National Highways Authority of India has also increased the tax on toll plazas and the toll plaza has increased by an average of 5 percent.
Patwari said that the toll hike will be applicable on all types of private and commercial vehicles and lead to hike in transportation costs and subsequently prices of all commodities increase.
He said that the BJP government did not even wait for the Lok Sabha election results and hiked the tax.
