Out of 1563 students who got grace marks in NEET exam-2024, only 813 students appeared for the exam again on Sunday. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), 750 students did not appear for the exam again.

The Supreme Court had asked the NTA to conduct a re-examination of the students who got grace marks.

The re-examination was conducted for these students on Sunday at seven centers.

NTA officials have said that out of the students who were given grace marks, 813 appeared for the re-examination on Sunday.

Apart from the police, examiners were deployed at the centers for the examination on Sunday and all kinds of arrangements were made.

This year, more than 23 lakh students appeared in the NEET exam. Unexpectedly, 67 students scored 720 out of 720 marks, after which questions are being raised on the NEET exam.

NTA had reduced the marks of students who got grace marks and gave them a chance to appear in the exam again.

CBI begins probe

The retest was held on a day the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an FIR in connection with alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam NEET-UG held on May 5. The CBI filed the case following a complaint from the Education Ministry amid protests and litigation by students for a probe into paper leak claims.

Officials said the ministry alleged in the complaint, now part of the FIR, that "certain isolated incidents" happened in a few states during the conduct of the examination. Giving top priority to the case, the CBI has formed special teams that are on their way to Godhra and Patna, where cases of question paper leaks have been filed by the police.

The CBI will take over the investigation of the cases filed by the police in Gujarat and Bihar.

Sixty-three candidates were debarred from all over the country over malpractices during the NEET-UG, the NTA said. They include 17 from Bihar, and 30 from Godhra.

Students are demanding to conduct NEET exam again. The opposition is also raising the issue of alleged irregularities in NEET exam.
