Visit of leaders from abroad for swearing-in ceremony of PM Modi and Ministers; celebrations in US also, see details


The swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers following the General Elections 2024 is scheduled on Sunday 9 June. On the occasion, leaders from India’s neighbourhood and Indian Ocean region have been cordially invited as distinguished guests.


Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday announced that the President will be administering the oath of office and secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at 7 15 pm on June 9, 2024, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.


President of Maldives likely to attend


President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe; President of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu; Vice-President of Seychelles, Ahmed Afif; Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina; Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth; Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’; and Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay, have accepted the invitation to attend.



Sheikh Hasina received warm welcome


Many of these leaders have already reached India. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh,  Sheikh Hasina received warm welcome during her arrival for attending the swearing-in ceremony.



Ahmed Afif received warm welcome


The Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles, Ahmed Afif received warm welcome during his arrival for attending the swearing-in ceremony.


Leaders will attend Banquet hosted by President 


In addition to participating in the swearing-in ceremony, the leaders will attend a Banquet hosted by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the same evening.


The visit of the leaders to attend the swearing-in ceremony of PM Narendra Modi for his third consecutive term is in keeping with the highest priority accorded by India to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ vision.


Celebrations in US


Meanwhile, the supporters of PM Modi are planning to celebrate his third swearing-in in 22 cities across the United States, a senior leader from Overseas Friends of BJP-USA has said.


The celebrations in cities, including New York, Jersey City, Washington DC, Boston, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, are set to take place over the current and coming weekends.
