A child suffering from JE (Japanese Encephalitis) disease has been found in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. Symptoms of JE were found in a 12-year-old child living in Dharampura, who was admitted to Mecanza for better treatment. Where he is undergoing treatment. Giving information about the case, District Malaria Officer Dr. C Maitri said that the first patient of JE in Jagdalpur has been found in Dharampura of the city. Symptoms of JE have been found in a 12-year-old school child.

The main vector of JE is Culex tritaeniorhynchus , spread across India. Common symptoms of JE include headache, fever, mental confusion and delirium. Acute symptoms include convulsions, changes in behavioural pattern. The preventive method available for JE is JE vaccine; no specific treatment exists but case management is advised symptomatically. The disease affects primarily the children, but can affect individuals of any age.
