Chhattisgarh: Former PCC chief Dhanendra Sahu's Annual Panchkosi Dham Yatra on this day: A Journey of Devotion with Community Participation

On the third Monday of Sawan, August 5th, former Chhattisgarh minister and former PCC chief Dhanendra Sahu will embark on his annual Panchkosi Dham Yatra. Starting at 6:30 am on a bullet motorcycle, Sahu, accompanied by numerous Shiv devotees and supporters, will offer water to Bholenath Kuleshwar Mahadev and perform elaborate pooja-archana.

Warm welcome will be accorded

Despite inclement weather, including heavy rain, Sahu’s religious pilgrimage has persisted for years. His yatra is warmly welcomed in every village along the route. This year, extensive preparations have been made by Congress workers in the Mahasamund and Rajim assembly constituencies to welcome the convoy.

Villagers plan to greet the procession with grand fireworks displays, adding to the spectacle of the journey. The convoy is a vibrant and bustling sight, comprising hundreds of motorcycles, scooters, magics, pickups, tractors, and buses, with many vehicles filled with women. This unique event allows participants to visit and worship five Mahadev temples in a single day on the third Monday of Sawan.

Schedule and Route of the Convoy

The yatra begins with Sahu offering worship at Pateshwarnath Mahadev Patewa, located 5 km from Navapara, at 7:30 am. By 9 am, the convoy will travel 14 km to the Champeshwar Mahadev Temple in Champaran. After performing rituals there, the group will proceed 30 km to Bamhneshwarnath Mahadev in Mahasamund by 1 pm, where they will take a brief rest.

The journey continues to Fingeshwar in the Rajim Assembly constituency, 22 km away, where Sahu will offer worship at Phanikeshwar Mahadev at 4 pm. The final stop is at Kopeshwarnath Mahadev Mandir, Kopra, 32 km from Fingeshwar, at 6 pm. The yatra concludes with worship at Kuleshwarnath Mahadev Temple.

A Prayer for Prosperity

Dhanendra Sahu said that his religious journey has a longstanding tradition. He travels to Panchkoshi Dham with thousands of Shiva devotees and supporters to pray to Mahadev for the prosperity, progress, and happiness of the state and the Abhanpur assembly constituency. Sahu highlighted the significant participation of Shiva devotees, supporters, and women in this journey, emphasizing its importance to the community.
