UPSC cancels Puja Khedkar's candidature for civil services, check updates

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has canceled Puja Khedkar's candidature for civil services and has permanently barred her from appearing in all future examinations and appointments.

After examining all the available records, UPSC has found Puja Khedkar guilty of violating the rules of CSE-2022.

For this, UPSC reviewed the data of 15 years of more than fifteen thousand recommended candidates from 2009 to 2023.

UPSC had also issued a show cause notice to Puja Khedkar.

This show cause notice was issued to Puja, who was selected for IAS in 2022, on July 18, 2024 for attempting to appear in the examination more times than the limit prescribed in the examination rules by giving fake identity.

Puja had to respond to this show cause notice by July 25, but Puja had asked for time till August 4 to collect the necessary documents. But UPSC gave Pooja time only till July 30.

However, Pooja could not respond to the show cause notice in the given time. After which UPSC examined the existing records and found Puja Khedkar guilty.

After this, her candidature for CSE 2022 was canceled and she has also been permanently barred from appearing in any further examination or appointment.

Khedkar, a 2023-batch probationary Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is accused of misusing power and privileges, by demanding perks and facilities she was not entitled for, during her training in Pune District Collectorate in Maharashtra recently.

She was accused of bullying those around her and of placing a red-blue beacon (indicating high-ranking official) atop a private Audi (a luxury sedan) car used by her that also had 'Maharashtra Government' written on it during her stint.

UPSC had registered a case against Puja

Earlier, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had initiated a series of actions, including the registration of a police case, against her for fraudulently availing attempts in the civil services examination by faking her identity.

Amid the ongoing controversy, probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar had said the law will take its course.

"Judiciary will take it's course; whatever it is there, I will reply to that," she had said.
