Hearing in Supreme Court today on cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 exam


The Supreme Court will hear today on Thursday the petitions seeking cancellation of NEET-UG exam.


These exams were conducted on May 5. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra will hear these petitions.


These include allegations of alleged irregularities in the examination and petitions seeking guidelines for re-conducting the examination.


The Center has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court denying large-scale irregularities in the examination.


According to the Center, the results of NEET-UG 2024 have been examined by experts of IIT Madras and no irregularities were found in it.


The Center said the data analytics of results of NEET-UG 2024 was conducted by IIT Madras and as per the findings given by the experts, the marks distribution follows the bell-shaped curve that is witnessed in any large-scale examination indicating no abnormality.


In the affidavit, the Center has also denied the benefit to students in any particular area.


The Supreme Court had sought a response from the Center and NTA on any possible paper leak and asked whether those who adopted wrong methods could be identified.


The court had called re-examination the last option and said that it can be conducted again only if the entire examination process has been affected.


Earlier, the Center and NTA had filed an affidavit opposing the re-examination and said that it would have an 'adverse effect.
