ICC selects Jasprit Bumrah as 'Men's Player of the Month'; who is 'Women's Player of the Month'


ICC has selected Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as 'Men's Player of the Month' for June. Bumrah has been given this title due to his excellent performance in the recent T20 World Cup 2024. At the same time, Indian women's cricket team's vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been declared ICC Women's Player for the month of June. 


Bumrah was also selected as 'Player of the Tournament' in the T20 World Cup 2024 held in America. Bumrah took 15 wickets in eight innings of eight matches of the T20 World Cup at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17. 


He was the second highest wicket-taker in the World Cup. Joining Bumrah in this accolade were Afghanistan's Fazal Haq Farooqi and Arshdeep Singh, both of whom also secured 17 wickets each during the T20 World Cup.



Smriti Mandhana's brilliant performance


Along with Smriti Mandhana, England's Maia Boucher and Sri Lanka's Vishmi Gunaratne were also in contention for the Women's Player of the Month for June.


Mandhana has received this title for the first time. Mandhana performed brilliantly against the South African women's cricket team.


She scored 113 runs in the first match of the ODI series and 136 runs in the second. She scored 90 runs in the last match.
