MP News: The Uttar Pradesh government's directive requiring shop owners to display their names on all shops, carts, and dhabas along the Kanwariyas' route has started to influence Madhya Pradesh as well. Indore BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola has followed suit, writing a letter to CM Mohan Yadav to request a similar mandate across the state.
Mendola is an MLA from Indore 3. He has the image of a staunch Hindu leader. He is quite famous for religious events in his constituency. He is a prominent supporter of senior BJP leader and MP government's Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.
MLA Ramesh Mendola's Proposal
In his letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Mendola emphasized the significance of a person's name as a marker of identity and pride. He stated, "A person's name is their identity, and they take pride in it. Every individual, whether small or big, strives to enhance their name. To instill this sense of pride among every trader, businessman, and shopkeeper in Madhya Pradesh, it should be mandatory for the state government to require the display of the shopkeeper's name in front of every permanent and mobile shop."
Expected Benefits of the Proposal
Mendola believes that implementing this measure would help establish the identity of shopkeepers within society. He argued that this would encourage shopkeepers to provide better service to their customers, thereby enhancing their reputation and goodwill. Mendola further explained that this would foster healthy competition in the business sector, leading to more rapid development of the state. He expressed confidence that the CM would issue an order to this effect soon.
Govt's Directive
But what is the government's latest order in this regard? It appears the government is not going to mandate name display on eateries on the lines of UP and Uttarakhand.
The MP Urban Development and Housing Department has clarified that no instructions have been issued by the Department or at the government level to write the shop owner's name on the shop boards coming in the path of Kawad pilgrims in the urban area.
The department said that reports were coming from some civic bodies that the shop owner's name is being compulsorily written on the shops on the path of Kawad pilgrims. The department has instructed all the urban bodies to stay away from confusion. Boards can be put up on shops under the "Madhya Pradesh Outdoor Advertising Media Rules, 2017". There is no compulsion to display the shop owner's name on these boards.
