Ongoing Encounter in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir: Two Jawans Martyred, 5 Terrorists Gunned Down

The encounter in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, continues for the second consecutive day on Sunday, July 7. Thus far, security forces have neutralized five terrorists in the areas of Mudargham and Chinnigam Frisal. Unfortunately, the operation has also seen the loss of two soldiers. Intelligence reports suggest that two to three terrorists remain concealed in Mudargham, with another terrorist hiding in Chinnigam Frisal.

Operations are actively ongoing at both locations. On Sunday morning, the body of a terrorist was discovered in Mudargham. The previous day, Saturday, July 5, a jawan was martyred in Mudargham during a fierce battle with the terrorists. In Chinnigam Frisal, four terrorists were killed on Saturday, but another jawan was martyred during the gun battle.

Initial Assault in Kulgam

The confrontation in Kulgam began when terrorists opened fire on security forces conducting a joint search operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Mudargham. Lance Naik Pradeep Nain was martyred in the ensuing firefight.

Meanwhile, the encounter in Chinnigam Frisal commenced on Saturday afternoon. By evening, security forces had engaged and neutralized four terrorists, their bodies later confirmed via drone surveillance. The identities of the deceased terrorists have yet to be established.

Attack in Rajouri District

In a separate incident, terrorists launched an attack on an army camp in the Manjakot area of Rajouri district on Sunday morning. This assault resulted in the injury of one soldier. Following a robust retaliatory response from the troops, the terrorists fled into the dense forest. The army and police have since initiated a search operation to track down the assailants.

Month-Long Anti-Terror Operations

Over the past month, from June to July 6, security forces have successfully eliminated ten terrorists in various operations. These include encounters with terrorists responsible for back-to-back attacks in Doda on June 11-12 and those who attempted infiltration in Uri.

The ongoing operations underscore the relentless efforts of the security forces to maintain peace and security in the region, despite the high cost of lives lost in the line of duty.
