Jay Shah, the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has talked about giving priority to Test cricket and women's cricket in his new role.
However, the biggest challenge for him will be to ensure the continued success of Test cricket and complete the ICC World Test Championship on time like the first two tournaments.
Apart from this, due to the popularity and thrill of T20 cricket, the attraction of players from all over the world towards domestic tournaments will also be a challenge.
Shah said, "T20 is an exciting format, it is equally important that Test cricket remains a priority for everyone as it is the basis of our game."
He said, "We have to ensure that cricketers are attracted to Test cricket and our efforts will be focused towards this goal."
"We should take the ICC's mission forward by paying more attention to women's cricket and Divyang cricket and providing more resources."
Jay Shah was elected unopposed as the new President of the ICC on Tuesday. 35-year-old Shah will take over from current ICC President Greg Barclay from December 1.
Jay Shah's priorities will be giving priority to Test cricket and attracting players towards Test cricket and promoting women's cricket and providing all the resources for women players.
Besides, providing adequate resources for Divyang cricket will also be his priority.
