Two people have been injured in the violence during the bandh called by the BJP on Wednesday in West Bengal.
Two people have been injured in the attack and firing on the car of BJP leader Priyangu Pandey in Bhatpara of North 24 Parganas.
BJP leader Arjun Singh alleged that, "Priyangu Pandey's car was attacked and shot at today... The driver was shot and 7 rounds were fired. All this happened in the presence of the ACP. Two people have been injured, one of whom is in critical condition."
He blamed the TMC for this attack and said that 'Priyangu Pandey's murder was planned.'
Some organizations associated with BJP and RSS had taken out a march on Tuesday to protest against the rape and murder of a post graduate medical student on August 9 at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, in which the police used force.
In protest against this, BJP had called for a bandh in the state on Wednesday.
TMC workers also hit the streets
TMC workers have also come out on the streets to protest against thebandh called by BJP. TMC workers also stopped trains in North 24 Parganas.
BJP leader Rupa Ganguly said, "TMC people are saying that people are not following the bandh, while buses are going empty. This means that people are following the bandh."
Train services between Bangaon-Sealdah have been disrupted due to the protest of TMC workers in North 24 Parganas district.
On the other hand, during the bandh, BJP workers blocked the road at many places and stopped the buses of the State Transport Corporation. Police used force at some places.
During this time, bus drivers were seen wearing helmets while working.
Bus drivers of North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) were seen driving buses wearing helmets in North Dinajpur.
A bus driver said, "We are wearing helmets because a bandh has been called. The government has ordered us to wear helmets for safety."
Mamata Banerjee said sorry
On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted today and said "sorry" about the victim of rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College.
She wrote on the social media platform, "Today I dedicate the Foundation Day of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad to our sister...we mourned over whose tragic death a few days ago."
She wrote, "Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of this sister who was brutally tortured and killed.
We demand speedy justice for her and all women of all ages across India who have been targeted by inhuman acts. Sorry."
