Bhopal: The city of Bhopal came alive on Monday as devotees celebrated Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna with great devotion and festivity. Temples across the city, including the iconic Birla Mandir, were beautifully decorated, drawing large crowds of worshippers who thronged the holy sites to participate in the rituals and offer prayers.
Temples Adorned in Splendor
The celebration began at midnight with the birth of Lord Krishna. Temples were adorned with vibrant flowers, colorful lights, and intricate rangoli designs. The Birla Mandir stood out with its elaborate decorations, attracting thousands of devotees. The temple’s façade was illuminated with golden lights, while the interiors were decorated with traditional motifs and garlands, creating a divine atmosphere that resonated with the festive spirit.
Other notable temples in the city, including the ISKCON Temple, Radha Krishna Mandir, and Kali Bari Temple, also witnessed a similar transformation.
As the day progressed, a steady stream of devotees could be seen making their way to the temples, forming long queues.
Celebrations at Dadaji Dham Mandir
Shri Krishna Janmashtami Mahotsav and Shri Dadaji Gurudev Janmotsav and Mirabai's Pranapratishtha Divas were celebrated with great pomp and show on Monday at Dadaji Dham Mandir at Raisen Road Patel Nagar Bhopal. The amazing scene came alive with Krishna devotion in Dadaji Dham Mandir.
The idols of Shri Radhe-Krishna were decorated with attractive clothes and the temple was also decorated with colors and rangoli. Small children came dressed as Lord Krishna and Radhaji. All the children were given prizes. Bhajan Sandhya, Rasleela and Kirtan were organized.
Many families visited the temples together, with children dressed as Lord Krishna, adding a touch of innocence and joy to the celebrations. The enthusiasm of the devotees was evident as they offered sweets, flowers, and other offerings to the deity, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and happiness.
Rituals and Shobha Yatras
The temples organized special rituals and ceremonies throughout the day.
The shobha yatra was taken out from Ram Krishna Temple in which large number of devotees participated.
Krishna Janmashtami Shobha Yatra of Yadav community was taken out from Shahjahanabad.
Laddu Gopal anointed with 11 kg of Panchamrit
In Maa Vaishno Dham Adarsh Durga Temple, Laddu Gopal was anointed with 11 types of juices and 11 kg of Panchamrit.
The celebration of Janmashtami in Bhopal was not limited to the temples alone. Various community centers and cultural organizations also hosted events to mark the occasion. These included performances of “Raslila” (the divine dance of Krishna with the gopis) and “Dahi Handi” competitions, where young men formed human pyramids to break a pot of curd, emulating.
In several residential colonies, people organized “Bhajan Sandhya” (evening of devotional songs), where local singers and musicians performed traditional Krishna bhajans, adding a melodious touch to the celebrations.
We should learn from ideals of Krishna: Gaur
Minister of State for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Krishna Gaur said on Monday at the Government Mahatma Gandhi CM Rise School in BHEL on the occasion of Janmashtami festival that it is a great pleasure to see that children have come to school to celebrate the festival of Janmashtami. Children are the living form of God. She said that the life of Lord Krishna is exemplary for all of us. May this holy festival bring prosperity in everyone's life, this is my prayer. She said that we should learn from the ideals of Lord Krishna.
