Paris Olympics-2024: Vinesh Phogat creates history, becomes first Indian female wrestler to reach final

Indian female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has reached the final of the 50kg weight category at Paris Olympics-2024. For the first time in the history of Olympics, India's female wrestler has reached the final. Now she will play the gold medal match against America's Sarah Ann Hildebrandt tomorrow i.e. on Wednesday after 10 pm.

In the semi-finals, Vinesh Phogat defeated Cuban wrestler Yusneylys Guzmán Lopez 5-0. In the pre-quarterfinals, Vinesh defeated Japan's Olympic and world champion Yui Susaki 3-2. Susaki is a four-time world champion and a Tokyo Olympics gold medalist. Susaki had won all her 82 international matches. But Vinesh defeated Susaki using her own tactics.

Susaki is a specialist in wrestling's take-down tactics. Susaki used the same tactic against Vinesh as well. But her tactic backfired as Vinesh also used the same tactic to take the lead and win.
