Rajasthan Udaipur Bulldozer Action: Why questions are being raised on govt's bulldozer action?

Udaipur Communal Violence: Serious questions are being raised on the administration's bulldozer action in the case of violence in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Now it has come to light that the house on which the administration took action was not that of the accused but it was a rented house.

On Friday, tensions escalated in Udaipur following a knife attack involving two 10th-grade students. An angry mob took to the streets, resulting in arson and vandalism. In response to the incident, the Udaipur Development Authority issued a notice declaring the home of the accused student to be illegal.

On Saturday, under police supervision, the administration used a bulldozer to demolish the house. This action followed an investigation by the Udaipur Development Authority, which determined that the accused's home had been constructed illegally on forest land. Additionally, the Forest Department had issued a notice 24 hours prior, instructing the family to vacate the property by the 20th. However, the house was razed on 17 August itself.

On Saturday afternoon, Udaipur Municipal Corporation officials reached the spot with JCBs. First they cut the electricity connection of the house and then got the house vacated. As soon as the officials ensured that the house was vacant, two JCB machines started the process of demolishing the house. But now questions are being raised about this action.

MP Rajkumar Roat raised questions

Meanwhile, Banswara MP Rajkumar Roat also raised questions on this issue. Roat is an MP belonging to Bharat Adivasi Party, which is backed by the Congress

Roat wrote on social media 'X', "The incident of stabbing involving schoolchildren in Udaipur city is reprehensible, and the perpetrator should face appropriate legal consequences. However, the current BJP government has exacerbated tensions by demolishing the home of a minor accused in the case. In Rajasthan, it seems that severe acts of violence may go unpunished, while lesser offenses provoke immediate action. A crime is a crime, and the punishment for each should be consistent, regardless of caste or religion. Such actions based on these distinctions are fostering division and hatred, jeopardizing the future of the country."
