Cloudburst caused flooding in Pin Valley of Lahaul Spiti in Himachal Pradesh at around 6 pm Friday. A woman was swept away in it. Police recovered her body late in the evening. Earlier on Thursday, 7 people died due to cloudburst at 5 places. 46 people are missing.
Red alert for heavy rain
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert on Saturday (August 3) regarding heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. There are flood conditions in many districts of Madhya Pradesh. Gates of 9 big dams including Kolar, Tawa, Bargi had to be opened on Friday.
Apart from these 4 states, IMD has also issued rain alert in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura.
Gangrel Dam gates opened
Gangrel Dam of Dhamtari in Chhattisgarh is 86 percent full. On Friday, for the first time in the season, all 14 gates were opened for half an hour. During this, a mock drill was also conducted to deal with the flood in Mahanadi.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in Jharkhand during the next 24 hours. The state government has ordered to keep all private and government schools closed today (Saturday). Two people have also died due to lightning in Garhwa district.
Heavy rains in Rajasthan
Due to heavy rain alert in Bhilwara, Kekri and Tonk districts of Rajasthan on Saturday (August 3), the collectors have declared holiday in schools. Due to heavy rain in Kishangarh of Ajmer, a part of the hill behind the Housing Board Colony broke and fell. A house collapsed in Sawai Madhopur.
2 people have died due to floods in Assam. More than 18 thousand people are affected by the floods in 6 districts. This year, floods, storms, lightning and landslides have claimed 116 lives in the state so far.
