Yograj Singh, the father of former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has once again directed criticism towards MS Dhoni, alleging that the former Indian captain negatively impacted Yuvraj's cricketing career. Yograj claimed that Yuvraj could have continued to play for the national team for an additional four to five years. He has also called for Yuvraj to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. Yograj highlighted his son's contributions to Indian cricket, including his roles in the T20 World Cup victory in 2007 and the ODI World Cup win in 2011.
In a media conversation, Yograj stated, "I will not forgive MS Dhoni. He is a great cricketer, but whatever he did against my son is coming out now. He can never be forgiven in life. I have never done two things in life: I have never forgiven those who have wronged me, and I have never hugged them, even if they are my family members or my children."
'Yuvraj played a key role in the 2011 World Cup while battling cancer'
Yograj further expressed his belief that Dhoni "ruined my son's life," emphasizing that Yuvraj had the potential to extend his cricketing career. He praised Yuvraj's abilities. He said Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag had said that a player of Yuvraj's caliber has never existed and likely never will. He reiterated his call for Yuvraj to receive the Bharat Ratna, noting that Yuvraj played a significant role in the 2011 World Cup while battling cancer.
Yuvraj Singh's impressive international career spanned from 2000 to 2017, during which he played 402 matches, scored 11,178 runs—including 17 centuries and 71 half-centuries—and took 148 wickets. His remarkable performance in the 2011 World Cup included 362 runs, one century, and four half-centuries, leading to his recognition as the Player of the Tournament.
