BJP Announces 40 Star Campaigners for Key By-Elections: A Strategic Push in Rajasthan

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its list of 40 star campaigners for the upcoming by-elections to be held on seven assembly seats in Rajasthan. The announcement comes at a crucial time as the party aims to consolidate its position in these constituencies. The star-studded list includes prominent leaders such as Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, BJP state president Madan Rathore, state in-charge Radhamohan Das Agarwal, and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Modi at top in the list

The list comprises a total of 40 names, with 26 leaders hailing from Rajasthan. Additionally, there are 4 Chief Ministers from neighboring states and 1 former Chief Minister. The list begins with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Union Minister Smriti Irani.

Among the four Chief Ministers designated as star campaigners for Rajasthan, the first is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He is joined by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Additionally, former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is also set to campaign in Rajasthan this time. These leaders come from states that border Rajasthan, which is why the BJP has selected them as star campaigners for the region.

Defectors in the list

The list also features several leaders who have recently switched allegiances to the BJP. Among them are Mahendrajit Singh Malviya, Jyoti Mirdha, and Richpal Mirdha, all of whom defected from the Congress. Their inclusion as star campaigners is a clear signal of BJP’s attempt to attract voters who may have previously supported the Congress party.

A Move to Court Muslim Voters

One of the striking aspects of the BJP’s strategy for these by-elections is its effort to reach out to Muslim voters. Although the party did not field any Muslim candidates in the last assembly, Lok Sabha, or now in these by-elections, the inclusion of Hamid Khan Mewati, the state president of BJP’s Minority Front, as a star campaigner highlights the party’s intention to send a message of inclusivity. This is particularly important as two of the seven seats—Ramgarh and Jhunjhunu—have a significant Muslim voter base, making their support crucial for electoral success.

Key Ministers and Leaders Feature Prominently

Out of the 40-star campaigners, eight members from the Bhajanlal Sharma cabinet have been selected to play a leading role in these by-elections. This includes prominent figures such as Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa, along with Ministers Kirori Lal Meena, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, Hemant Meena, Babulal Kharari, and Kanhaiyalal Choudhary. Their inclusion underscores the BJP’s commitment to leveraging its most influential leaders to galvanize voters in these crucial seats.

Leaders Who Lost Elections Still Play Key Roles

In an interesting turn, the BJP has also included several leaders who lost in previous elections. Rajendra Rathore, Satish Poonia, Prabhulal Saini, and Mahendrajit Singh Malviya, who were unsuccessful in the last assembly elections, have been given a second chance to prove their influence as star campaigners. Additionally, Kailash Choudhary, who lost the Lok Sabha elections from Barmer and finished in third place, has also been granted a spot in the team.

Other Key Figures in the Campaign

The list is rounded out with other influential leaders such as former state presidents CP Joshi, Arun Chaturvedi, and Ashok Parnami. Notably, Women’s Front President Raksha Bhandari has also been included, reflecting the BJP’s focus on women voters in these by-elections.

With a mix of experienced leaders, defectors from rival parties, and targeted outreach to minority communities, the BJP’s strategy for these by-elections is clearly aimed at consolidating its voter base across different constituencies.
