Haryana Assembly Elections-2024: Voting is underway for Haryana’s assembly elections-2024, with voters across 90 constituencies casting their ballots. The election results, which will shape the state's leadership for the coming term, are set to be announced on October 8.
In the hotly contested Ambala constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and candidate Anil Vij shared his thoughts on the pulse of the election. Speaking to the media, Vij emphasized that the people of Ambala are seeking stability and tranquility in their region. He remarked, "The people of Ambala want to live in peace. They do not want to witness a return of lawlessness. They do not want the forceful seizure of homes or shops."
Vij, an experienced political figure and a strong contender in the election, said that peace and stability in Ambala are synonymous with supporting the BJP. "The people of Ambala want peace, and peace means voting for the lotus flower (BJP symbol). The Bharatiya Janata Party will form the next government, and the Chief Minister will be chosen by the party leadership," he stated.
Addressing the speculation surrounding his potential candidacy for Chief Minister, Vij added, "I am the most senior leader in the party. If the party chooses me, then the next meeting will be at the Chief Minister’s residence." His comments highlight the possibility that he could be considered for the top position in the state, though he stressed that the decision rests with the party.
'Kumari Selja is feeling suffocated'
Vij said Kumari Selja's position within Congress has become untenable. "Kumari Selja is feeling suffocated in the Congress. She is not being given the respect she deserves," Vij claimed, reflecting the ongoing tensions within the Congress party in Haryana.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupendra Hooda called upon voters to actively participate in the democratic process. Urging citizens to make their voices heard, Hooda stated, "I appeal to the voters to come out and exercise their right to vote."
Hooda also expressed optimism about the election turnout, noting, "According to the information we have, people are showing great enthusiasm, and voting is proceeding smoothly." His comments reflect a sense of encouragement for the Congress party, which is aiming to regain control in the state.
As the election day progresses, all eyes are on Haryana, where the political landscape could shift significantly based on today’s voter turnout. Both the BJP and Congress are vying for control in this crucial election, with key constituencies like Ambala playing a pivotal role in the final outcome.
With just days to go before the results are declared, the atmosphere is charged with anticipation, as voters, candidates, and parties alike await the verdict that will decide Haryana’s future leadership.
