ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024: India Falls Short Against Australia, Semi-Final Hopes Hang in Balance; upcoming match between NZ and Pakistan will be pivotal

In a crucial ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 match, Australia edged out India by 9 runs. Batting first, Australia set a target of 151 runs, while India managed to score 142 runs, losing 9 wickets in the process.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led the charge for India with a commendable 54 runs, but it wasn't enough for victory. Shafali Verma added 20 runs and Deepti Sharma contributed 29 runs to the total.

Australia's innings saw Grace Harris top the scorecard with 40 runs, supported by Talia McGrath and Alice Perry, who each scored 32 runs.

On the bowling front, Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma each took two wickets for India.

Looking ahead, the upcoming match between New Zealand and Pakistan will be pivotal for India's semi-final aspirations. If New Zealand wins, India’s chances will diminish, but a victory for Pakistan could enhance India's hopes based on net run rate.
