Ladakh climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, supporters stopped at Delhi border, what Rahul Gandhi said?

Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk and his supporters, who were coming to Delhi to demand constitutional security provisions for the Ladakh region, were stopped at the Singhu border of Delhi-Haryana on Monday night.

Around 120 people from Ladakh including climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had marched to the national capital demanding sixth schedule status for the Union Territory, were detained by the Delhi Police at the city's border, police sources said.

According to Delhi Police sources, the detained people, including Wangchuk, have taken to Alipur and other police stations along the city border.

They have been kept at Alipur Police Station and other nearby police stations at the Delhi-Haryana border, the officer said, adding that they will be released after some time.

Women participating in the march were not detained, the source said, adding that the detentions were done in view of prohibitory orders banning gatherings of five or more persons in north and central Delhi.

Sonam Wangchuk has written on social media that he is being detained. At the same time, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has condemned this move of Delhi Police. He has said that this is unacceptable.

It is unacceptable: Rahul

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written in a post on social media X, "It is unacceptable to detain Sonam Wangchuk ji and hundreds of Ladakhi people for a peaceful march for environment and constitutional rights."

"Why are elderly citizens raising their voice for the future of Ladakh being detained at the Delhi border. Modi ji, like the farmers, this 'Chakravyuh' will also break and your ego will also break. You have to listen to the voice of Ladakh."

At the same time, environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has also posted on X.

He has written, "I am being detained along with 150 marchers at the Delhi border by hundreds of police forces. Most of the men and women are above 80 years of age, many of whom are former military personnel, our fate is not known. We were doing a very peaceful march to Bapu's Samadhi in the world's largest democracy."
