Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh is preparing to welcome India’s longest glass skywalk bridge, a project expected to enhance tourism and attract adventure seekers from across the country. This new landmark, situated with breathtaking views of the vast blue sea and nearby mountain ranges, will provide a thrilling experience for nature lovers and adrenaline enthusiasts. The glass skywalk will offer visitors a unique perspective, allowing them to enjoy a panoramic view of the coast and surrounding landscapes, merging adventure with natural beauty.
Bridge is expected to span around 50 meters in length
The glass bridge, a collaborative project between Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Area Development Authority, RJ Adventure, and Bharat Mata Venture, is estimated to cost approximately Rs 6 crore. Construction began on November 18, 2024, and the bridge is expected to span around 50 meters in length. This unique infrastructure will soon position Visakhapatnam as a premier destination for adventure tourism, rivaling other popular tourist sites within India.
Competition with Kerala’s Glass Bridge
The Visakhapatnam glass bridge will surpass the existing glass skywalk in Vagamon, Kerala, which is currently around 40 meters long. By extending an additional 10 meters, the Visakhapatnam bridge will earn the title of India’s longest glass skywalk bridge. This added length not only enhances its appeal but also positions it as a new tourism landmark in the country, giving the coastal city a competitive edge in drawing visitors compared to similar attractions in other states.
Unique Features of Visakhapatnam’s Glass Bridge
The design and construction of this 50-meter bridge focus on providing a safe yet thrilling experience. With the capacity to accommodate approximately 40 visitors simultaneously, the bridge promises durability and safety. Engineered with a strong structure and high-quality glass, the bridge is designed to withstand significant weight, ensuring the safety of tourists as they take in the breathtaking views.
The Visakhapatnam glass bridge project has been planned with additional attractions to amplify its appeal, including a 150-meter zip line and a sky cycling track. This adventurous extension, which is estimated to cost an additional Rs 2 crore, aims to provide tourists with diverse experiences within the same vicinity. Once complete, these added activities will allow visitors to enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding landscape from multiple perspectives, all while satisfying their craving for adventure.
A Boost to Local Tourism and Economy
The addition of the glass skywalk bridge and adventure activities is expected to significantly boost tourism in Visakhapatnam, a city already popular for its scenic coastline and cultural heritage.
The upcoming glass skywalk bridge in Visakhapatnam is set to become a major tourist draw, providing visitors with an unforgettable blend of thrill, adventure, and scenic beauty.
