Congress to Launch ‘Delhi Nyay Yatra’ Inspired by Bharat Jodo Yatra for Upcoming Assembly Polls, These Key Leaders Have Been Invited

The Congress Party is set to launch the ‘Delhi Nyay Yatra’ on November 8, aiming to address citizens' concerns across the national capital ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. This yatra (foot march) mirrors the format of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, which focused on unity and engagement with the public.

Congress leaders, including Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, are expected to participate in the rally, marking an effort to rejuvenate the party’s presence in Delhi.

Organized by the Delhi Congress, the yatra is strategically timed as the party works to reconnect with voters before the Assembly elections scheduled for early next year. Congress officials have highlighted that padyatras have recently yielded favorable results, inspiring this move.

AAP is also conducting similar initiatives

While Congress sets out on its public outreach campaign, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also conducting similar initiatives, with AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal actively participating in their padyatras.

The Delhi Nyay Yatra will commence at Rajghat, with plans to cover all 70 assembly constituencies. Senior Congress leaders, including K.C. Venugopal, the organization’s general secretary, have been invited to join, signaling the party’s commitment to a high-profile, grassroots campaign.

Yatra aims to highlight key issues faced by citizens

According to Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav, the yatra aims to highlight key issues faced by Delhi’s citizens and apply pressure on the current government to address these concerns.

Reflecting on recent electoral setbacks, including a defeat in the Haryana assembly elections, the Congress is keen to avoid a similar outcome in Delhi. Despite the Haryana loss, the Congress’s campaign strategy, featuring roadshows and Deepender Singh Hooda's “Haryana Maange Hisaab” outreach, was deemed successful in establishing a direct connection with the public.

Party leaders hope that the Delhi Nyay Yatra will replicate this success, fostering a stronger relationship with the city’s voters well in advance of the 2024 polls.

With the election season approaching, the political atmosphere in Delhi is already abuzz, and the Congress’s padyatra initiative marks the beginning of an active campaign period that may shape the city’s political dynamics in the months to come.
