How Political Parties Reacted To Supreme Court's Ruling on 'Bulldozer Justice'

In the wake of the Supreme Court's recent ruling on the controversial issue of 'Bulldozer Justice,' several political parties, including the Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Samajwadi Party (SP), have expressed their support for the decision, viewing it as a positive advancement for civil liberties and justice.

Mayawati Commends the Verdict for Public Welfare

BSP leader Mayawati took to social media platform X to share her approval of the Supreme Court's ruling. She expressed optimism that the Court's stringent guidelines concerning bulldozer demolitions would encourage state governments, especially in Uttar Pradesh, to prioritize public interest and welfare in a more responsible manner.

Mayawati' expressed belief that this ruling could help eliminate the "shadow of terror" associated with bulldozer actions, which she argued have frequently exceeded legal limits and adversely affected communities.

Vivek Tankha: A Landmark for Civil Liberties in India

On the other hand, Supreme Court lawyer and Congress leader Vivek Tankha said, "This is a historic day for India and a historic decision in terms of civil liberties. The Supreme Court has strongly criticized the state regarding 'Bulldozer Justice'."

He said, "The way the state governments were adopting an arrogant stance, it seemed very uneducated and it seemed as if they would use it as a political weapon. All this will stop now and there will be no more 'bulldozer raj'."

Vivek Tankha said, "The Supreme Court has opened the doors to prosecute all those who have done such illegal activities in the past, no matter which state of India they are in."

Samajwadi Party welcomes the decision

Samajwadi Party leader Ameeque Jamei said, "The Samajwadi Party welcomes this decision of the Supreme Court. People spend their whole life building a house, and if one of their family members turns out to be a criminal, then by linking them together, the property of the entire family is seized and demolished."

He said, "All such actions that have taken place in Uttar Pradesh have been against the Muslim community."
