Even before the five-Test Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia begins, a war of words has begun between the two countries. Former Australia captain Tim Paine said that Gautam Gambhir's coaching style may not be good for the Indian team. He said that if this series does not go well for him, his tenure will not last long.
The team coached by Gambhir, which is recovering from the shock of the 0-3 defeat in the home series against New Zealand, will now face the challenge of defending the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the five-match series against Australia, which will begin with the Perth Test.
Paine said on 'SEN Radio', "In their last two series victories here, their coach was Ravi Shastri, who was brilliant. He created a great atmosphere around the team, the players had energy, they played with passion. He showed them dreams and motivated them in a light-hearted and enjoyable way. Now India has a new coach who is quite short-tempered, although he is very competitive. Gambhir has his own way."
Tim Paine expressed his concern and said that Gambhir's coaching style is not suitable for India. Paine said that Gambhir is the first to get angry in the press conference when asked simple questions. If India does not have a good start in Perth, then the journey ahead may be difficult for Gautam Gambhir.
Paine's reaction came after a recent media interaction in which Gambhir questioned Ricky Ponting's comment on Virat Kohli's poor form and said that the Australian legend does not need to worry about Indian cricket. Ponting then called Gambhir a very irritable person.
