Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is set to make a comeback in domestic cricket, rejoining the Bengal Ranji Trophy team for their upcoming Elite Group C match against Madhya Pradesh. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced Shami’s return on social media, highlighting the significant boost his presence will bring to the squad.
In its official statement, CAB expressed enthusiasm about Shami’s inclusion, describing him as a key asset for both the Indian cricket team and Bengal’s Ranji squad. His return is expected to strengthen Bengal’s bowling attack as they prepare to face Madhya Pradesh in Indore, with the match scheduled to start this Wednesday.
Shami has been away from the cricket field since November last year, following India’s final match in the One Day International (ODI) World Cup held in Ahmedabad. His experience and skill as a leading fast bowler will be crucial for Bengal as they aim to improve their standings in the Ranji Trophy.
Currently, Bengal sits at fifth position in the points table, with eight points from four matches, having gained three vital points in their last encounter against Karnataka.
The CAB noted that Shami’s presence is not only expected to strengthen Bengal’s bowling lineup but also to lift the morale of the entire team as they look to advance further in the tournament.
