Ujjain: Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that strengthening and expanding healthcare services in Madhya Pradesh is the state government’s highest priority. On November 21, Dr. Mohan Yadav will lay the foundation stone of the Ujjain Medical College, a step that will give new dimensions to the state’s healthcare services.
Dr. Yadav also emphasized that the project will be prioritized to meet the requirements of Simhastha-2028. The college will provide high-quality tertiary-level healthcare services to patients in Ujjain and nearby districts.
Medical college will be constructed on 14.97 acres of land
The medical college will be constructed on 14.97 acres of land, with a planned built-up area of 1,42,034 square meters. The total estimated cost is 592.3 crores. The facility will include state-of-the-art fire safety systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, solar energy, and HVAC systems. Provisions for rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse, and a sewage treatment plant have also been incorporated. The campus will feature a foot-over bridge, library building, service block, MGPS block, and ESS block.
550-Bed Modern Teaching Hospital
The Ujjain Medical College will have a teaching hospital with a capacity of 550 beds. It will be equipped with round-the-clock emergency services, a pharmacy, radiology services (CT, MRI, X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound), general and super-specialty OPD services.
The hospital will house 550 inpatient beds, 70 ICU and CCU beds, 11 modular operation theaters, one cath lab, and two endoscopy units. Advanced facilities like a nuclear medicine department and two radiotherapy bunkers (brachytherapy and CT simulator) will also be available.
Additionally, a cafeteria for doctors, staff, and the public is included in the project. The construction work will be executed by the Madhya Pradesh Building Development Corporation.
Capacity for 100 MBBS Seats
The Ujjain Medical College will have an initial intake of 100 MBBS students. It will feature four state-of-the-art lecture theaters (with a capacity of 180 each) and two examination halls (with a capacity of 250 each).
Other facilities will include a central library, teaching and faculty areas, laboratories, skill training centers, an administrative block, common rooms, and recreational facilities. Hostel accommodations for 380 nursing students will also be provided, including stilt parking, common rooms, recreational areas, dining halls, and kitchens.
Hostels for UG and Intern Students
The college will include hostel accommodations for 329 male undergraduates and 70 interns, as well as 286 female undergraduates and 58 interns. Each hostel will feature stilt parking, common rooms, recreational areas, and dining facilities. Additionally, an RDA hostel with a capacity of 145 residents will offer amenities like a gym, dining hall, and stilt parking.
