Delhi’s daily average Air Quality Index (AQI) clocked 424 as per the AQI Bulletin provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Thursday.
An 11-point action plan as per Stage-III of GRAP is applicable w.e.f. 08:00 AM of 15th November, 2024 (tomorrow) in the entire NCR. This 11-point action plan includes steps to be implemented/ ensured by different agencies and Pollution Control Boards of NCR and DPCC. These steps are:
Further intensify the frequency of mechanised sweeping of roads.
Ensure daily water sprinkling along with dust suppressants, before peak traffic hours, on roads and heavy traffic corridors and ensure proper disposal of the collected dust in designated sites/ landfills.
Further intensify public transport services.
Introduce differential rates to encourage off-peak travel.
Enforce strict ban on several categories of dust generating/ air pollution causing construction and demolition activities in the entire NCR.
In 2023, Stage-III of GRAP was invoked on 02nd day of November, whereas this year Stage-III of GRAP has been required to be invoked at a much later date in the winter season during 2024.
Online classes for primary schools
In view of the increasing level of air pollution in Delhi, online classes have been announced for primary schools here. Chief Minister Atishi has told on social media that this system will remain in force till further announcement.
On Thursday also, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the 'severe' category in many parts of Delhi.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, at 8 am, the AQI remained above 400 at almost all places. At many places, the AQI was recorded above 450. At 8 am on Thursday, the AQI of Anand Vihar was 472. The AQI of Patparganj also remained 472
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, if the AQI is between 401-500, then it is in the 'severe' category and during this time the pollution level affects even healthy people.
