Pakistan's cricket community and media have been in an uproar following India's decision not to send its team for the Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. This development has sparked significant reactions on social media, including one from former Pakistani cricket star Mohammad Hafeez.
In a post on the platform X, Hafeez shared his disappointment, writing, "It was a dream that India would come to Pakistan and play the Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan is safe and ready to host this event."
He expressed his belief that Pakistan, which has successfully hosted various international cricket teams in recent years, is fully capable of ensuring security.
Hafeez continued, "Pakistan is hosting all cricket nations on its home ground, but somehow it’s not safe for India. I am awaiting a strong response from our government and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)."
A spokesperson for the PCB later confirmed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had formally notified them of India's decision. According to the spokesperson, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the ICC in writing that India would not be participating in the Champions Trophy hosted in Pakistan.
This latest development has intensified the ongoing debate regarding cricket diplomacy and cross-border relations between India and Pakistan.
