Trump's Win: Celebrations Among Hindutva Supporters and Social Media Buzz, What Is Panchajanya’s Reaction?

Following Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election, there has been a notable surge of enthusiasm among Hindutva supporters in India. Many pro-Hindutva organizations and their leaders have started propagating Trump's victory as a victory of Hindutva.

In particular, Panchajanya, a magazine affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has shared multiple posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) celebrating Trump’s win. These posts have portrayed his victory as a success for principles resonant with Hindutva ideology.

Photoshopped image surfaces

In tandem with Trump’s win, a photoshopped image featuring U.S. President Trump and Elon Musk in place of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has surfaced online. The image appears to be an edited version of a rally held in May 2024. The message accompanying this altered photo reads, “Hindutva's glory, saffron flag in America too.” Though the picture is clearly doctored, it has spurred widespread reactions and sparked some controversy on social media as some users interpreted it as an attempt to draw a symbolic parallel between Trump and prominent Hindutva figures.

Panchajanya’s Support for Trump’s Victory

Panchajanya, known as the primary publication associated with the RSS, has been vocal in supporting Trump’s victory, posting several tweets celebrating his win. Among these posts are shared excerpts of Trump’s victory speech, Prime Minister Modi's congratulatory message to Trump, and positive comments from business magnate Gautam Adani. Through these tweets, Panchajanya has positioned Trump’s victory as a moment of triumph for Hindu supporters, effectively portraying Trump as a political ally who aligns with Hindutva values.

Indore’s Pro-Hindutva Organizations Celebrate

In India, support for Trump’s victory has extended to grassroots Hindutva organizations. In Indore, for instance, Eklavya Gaur, the son of an MLA and a prominent member of the Hindu Rakshak organization, shared a video expressing support for Trump. In the video, Trump is shown criticizing Islamic extremism, which Gaur interpreted as a sign of Trump’s affinity with Hindutva ideals.

The Trump-Hindutva Connection: An Emerging Discussion

Trump’s strong stance on Islamic extremism has resonated with Hindutva supporters, both in the United States and India. Some social media users have expressed that Trump’s ideology and his tough approach to certain issues parallel Hindutva principles. As a result, Trump's political style and policies are receiving significant approval from sections of the Hindutva community.
