UP By-election 2024: Young Woman Murdered in Karhal, Allegation against Samajwadi Party, Cops Suspended on Akhilesh’s Complaint in Separate Incident


UP By-election 2024: In Uttar Pradesh, the police and administration have implemented stringent security measures for the voting process across all nine assembly seats. This election cycle, all political parties, with the exception of Congress, have nominated candidates. Additionally, serious allegations have emerged against the Samajwadi Party in Karhal, claiming that a young woman was murdered after she refused to cast her vote in favor of the party.


Reports indicate that a young woman has been murdered during the voting process in Karhal. The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case. The girl's family has made serious allegations against the Samajwadi Party, claiming that the two people killed her for refusing to vote for the party. Additionally, the family alleges that the girl was raped before her murder. The incident occurred in the Mohalla Jatvan area of Karhal, where her body was discovered in a closed sack.


Voters prevented from casting vote: Akhilesh


Simultaneously, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav lodged a complaint with the Election Commission, alleging that police officers hindered some voters from casting vote. Following this complaint, the EC took action and suspended several police personnel involved. 


The Election Commission has taken action on various complaints received in the by-elections on 9 seats going on in Uttar Pradesh. Action has been taken against the policemen who violated the guidelines of the Election Commission  regarding checking of the voters and preventing them from casting their votes. Taking action after the instructions of the Election Commission, the DEO and SP verified the complaints and took this action.
