Wayanad By-Election: What Did Rahul Gandhi Say During Sister Priyanka Campaigning?

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently took to the stage in Wayanad to campaign for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi, who is contesting her first-ever election for the Lok Sabha seat. In a heartfelt address, Rahul highlighted the unique nature of this campaign, as it marks the first time he is supporting his sister at a public rally.

Reflecting on their political journey, Rahul shared, “This is the first time I have come to campaign for my sister in a public meeting. Usually, my sister is the one campaigning for me. She has supported me in my first, second, third, and even my fourth elections.”

Rahul also pointed out Priyanka’s consistent role as a campaigner within their family, saying, “My sister has campaigned for my mother and father as well. She has always been on the sidelines, working to support us, but she has never contested an election herself.”

He continued by expressing that Priyanka’s role within the family and her dedication to supporting her loved ones reflect her strong character and commitment. “This must have given you an idea about her personality,” he told the crowd. “Today, I have a choice—I could deliver a political speech, or I could speak in a way that I would to a family member.”

In a personal touch, Rahul said, “I will talk to all of you the way I would talk to my mother, my father, or my sister. I want to introduce you to the candidate by sharing a little about her, beyond the politics.”

Priyanka Gandhi, currently serving as Congress General Secretary, officially entered the electoral scene with her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala on October 23. The seat holds special significance, as it was previously represented by Rahul Gandhi, who contested both the Wayanad and Rae Bareli seats. With Priyanka stepping into the political arena for the first time, the Congress party has chosen Wayanad as the platform for her debut, symbolizing both family legacy and a new chapter in her political journey.
